Indo-Myanmar meet Bridge components handed over

As part of the Indo-Myanmar Regional Border Committee Meet, the Spears Corps Commander of Indian Army, Lt Gen Arun Kumar Sahni has handed over material for the construction of seven bailey bridges to North-West Commander of Myanmar Army, Maj Gen Soe Lwin.
The materials were handed over by the Indian Army to the Myanmar counterparts after signing an agreement during a solemn ceremony held today at the headquarters of Red Shield Division, Leimakhong.
Eighteen high ranking officers of the Myanmarese Army led by Maj Gen Soe Lwin attended the Indo-Myanmar Regional Border Committee Meet that began from yesterday at Leimakhong.
The meet will conclude tomorrow.
India's Ambassador (In-charge) to Myanmar, Sailesh Thangal also attended the meet.
A memento in the form of a prototype of a bailey bridge was also presented to Maj Gen Soe Lwin by Lt Gen AK Sahni.

The two Army officers later flagged off trucks loaded with the materials to Myanmar.
Indo-Myanmar Regional Border Committee Meet is a platform for representatives of Security forces and officials of both Nations to discuss and resolve crucial issues relating to border management, bi-lateral cooperation and counter terrorism strategy.
This forum also offers an opportunity to the delegates to exchange views which assist in further strengthening the bonds of cooperation and friendship between the countries.
This is the third meet in a row.
Speaking at the occasion, Lt Gen AK Sahni said the construction of bailey bridges would be helpful in mitigating underdevelopment and rugged terrain along the border of the two countries.
He is also confident that the project would strengthen the ties of the two countries.
In his acceptance speech, Maj Gen Soe Lwin acknowledged receiving other machines from the Indian Army on previous occasions which are used beneficially for various development activities in the Northern and North-West regions of Myanmar.
Applauding the gesture of the Indian army, Maj Gen Soe Lwin said mutual cooperation would bring better development of the region.
He also assured to safeguard the peace and tranquillity of the region.
