Dimapur, February 24 2014 :
There has been panic buying of commodities both in Dimapur and Kohima following the announcement from several Karbi Anglong based organisations of Assam to impose indefinite economic blockade against Nagaland in both the National Highway 39 and NH-36 from February 25 in protest against the alleged encroachment of Assam's territory by people from Nagaland side.
The goods train will also be affected for six hours tomorrow.
Sources in Diphu informed Newmai News Network this evening that there is no change of stand of organisations with regard to the decision to impose the indefinite economic blockade from Tuesday morning.
Dimapur and Kohima may face experience non-availabilities of essential commodities when the indefinite economic blockade begins.
The prices of first class and second class sands locally called Deopani and boulders may also rise in the next few days.
These goods come from Assam.
Karbi Students and Youth Council (KSYC), All Dimasa Students' Union (ADSU), All Assam Gurkha Students' Union (AAGSU), Karbi Unemployed Youth Association (KUYA), KSA, ADSU, AAGSU, Karbi Re-Awakening Organisation (KRAO) and United Students Union of Karbi Anglong (USUKA) have taken decision to impose the indefinite economic blockade.
These Karbi Anglong based organisations have alleged that 'Nagaland counterpart has already encroached a large area of our forest land and it has become order of the day as intrudes, cut jungles, construct road and houses etc.
When police force from Assam ask the encroachers to evict the areas, they resort to fight back' .
