Consultative meeting

Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in partnership with the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) organized a consultative meeting and campaign on human trafficking issue, identification and preventive measures at Moreh on August 21 .
As part of the campaign, a rally was also which was flagged off RK Memcha Devi, member secretary, MASLSA in the presence of S Saratkumar Sharma, Chairperson, MCPCR.
Around 400 people including women, youth and school children took part in the rally.
The rally was also participated by the officials of MASLSA, MCPCR and various State Departments.

The consultative meeting was chaired by Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur and Executive Chairman, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) .
Representatives of Social Welfare Department, Police Department, Law Legislative Affairs Department, Education Department, Transport Department, SP Chandel/Thoubal, Health Department, DIPR, Assam Rifles, ADM Moreh, CWC/JJB and NGOs were present at the meeting.
Each Department's representatives highlighted the roles in prevention of trafficking and their activities.
Justice N Kotiswar Singh also emphasised on the need to intervene on the problems with active coordination among all the stakeholders.
He further expressed desire to conduct such awareness campaign at the grass root level at Moreh, Churachandpur and Senapati where cases of trafficking are reportedly very high.
The meeting unanimously adopted points proposed by the Chairperson, MCPCR, which are (a) Prevention, (b) Protection, (c) Prosecution and (d) Rehabilitation for which all stakeholders need to prepare Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to tackle the trafficking problem in the State.
