Senapati, August 23 2013 :
Reacting to the news item carried in this paper in the August 23 edition under the caption "Head Count in Spt dist, Joint Survey on the crd", the Naga Peoples' Organisation has rubbished the claims about Government Officials not receiving any kind of cooperation from the people during the re-verification process.
Expressing strong resentment over such 'false report', the NPO Census committee stated that it had supported and extended maximum cooperation to any Census Operation and re-verification process.
The NPO has also demanded a clarification on the report dubbing it as 'incorrect and unacceptable' .
The repeated exclusion of the three sub-divisions over abnormal growth for two decades has been a major issue which remained unaddressed by the State Government, it said.
Instead of pointing the finger of accusation of not co-operating with the Census process and re-verification exercise, the repeated negligence and designs of the State Government, State Census Operation officials and some Beaurocrates since two decades is questionable, it asserted.
The NPO along with the citizens of the three sub-divisions of Mao-Maram, Paomata and Purul have been extending unconditional support to Central team of RGIs and State Officials during the two phase 2011 Re-verification process conducted in some villages.
It remained inconclusive and unknown to the people of the three sub-divisions till today.
Among notable officials who conducted the re-verification process in 2011 were RGI team led by Chakraborty and Director, State Census Operation Y.Thamkishore, District Administration Officials and NPO leaders.
