Imphal, August 23 2011:
All Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation (AMSGO) has appealed to the Government for resolving the present crisis in the State arising out of prolong imposition of economic blockade and total bandh over the issue of Sadar Hills.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at its office here today, working president of AMSGO N Chaoba and general secretary O Yaima pointed out that people in Manipur today have been caught in between the economic blockade and general strike imposed by SHDDC over the demanding for upgradation of Sadar Hills to a full-fledged district on one hand, and the total bandh of the UNC to counter any move to affect Naga areas in creation of any new districts on the other.
The present deadlock and its resultant shortage of food and fuel has affected everyone including the students.
So, if the Government should take up necessary measures to bail out the people from the present crisis and bringing an amicable solution in consultation with all the stakeholders, they demanded.
The Government should also make its stand clear on issue, whether the district demand is to be granted or not, they observed.
