National Highway -2 bandh called off

The bandh called along Imphal-Dimapur (NH-2) road since Thursday night against seizure of eight sand loaded trucks coming from Dimapur by DFO Motbung over non-possession of Transit Pass (TP) has been
called off from Friday afternoon after reaching an understanding with the government.
The bandh called jointly by Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA), Senapati District Truck Owners' Association and
Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union was called off after representatives of these associations held talk with DFO Motbung Ganesh Nagaranjan on Friday and reached an understanding.
MDA general secretary Sanjay Kshetrimayum told media persons that the misunderstanding regarding seizure of sand loaded trucks coming from Dimapur at Motbung was resolved after meeting DFO Motbung under the keen initiative of chief minister N Biren Singh and forest minister Th Biswajit and truckers' bodies decided to call off the bandh with immediate effect.
He also said that all the trucks seized at DFO Motbung will be released and the forest department will hand over the sand unloaded at DFO Motbung to the owners concerned.
