Lamka, June 21 2012:
Addressing an award distribution ceremony of Churachandpur's private schools today, the State Education Minister, who recently made headlines for his comments on his plan to revamp the education system, promised 'something new' in the system though he refrained from elaborating it.
'I will definitely do something new,' M Okendro, who was here to distribute the district toppers' award of the CDPSA told the gathering.
The minister was all praise for the association which he dubbed was the only of its kind in the state.
He also told the gathering that the suggestions made by the association for inclusion of private teachers under the government sponsored trainings and publishing of at least 300 names in the merit lists in the board's results are very good proposals.
Meanwhile, the Churachandpur District Private Schools' Association (CDPSA), through a memo, has urged the Minister to have a re-look on several educational avenues including the State's academic calendar, grant-in-aid, and privatization of government schools.
They also want the power situation in the State to improve.
Besides Okendro, former minister TN Haokip, Churachandpur DC, Jacintha Lazarus, Chairman ADC Churachandpur, Langkhanpau Guite, an Executive Member and a member of the ADC SP, L Mangkhogin Haokip have also attended the ceremony.
