Imphal, May 21 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has said that normalcy can be restored in Manipur only when the Government revoked the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups and declared them as terror organisations to take up necessary action.
A press release issued by COCOMI said that Manipur will become a battlefield of civil war if the Government fails to rein in the Kuki militants.
Saying that leaders especially of Kuki must refrain from making statements which threaten the territorial integrity of the State, COCOMI said that all community leaders must work together to bring the law and situation in Manipur under control.
The Committee said that initiatives taken up by the Centre and the State Government to restore normalcy in Manipur is not satisfying.
COCOMI also appealed to all to not take donations amid this difficult period.
It further said that the Committee has been working to put the situation in Manipur under control.
Today, sit in protests were staged under the aegis of COCOMI at Laipham Khunou Makha Leikai, Sekta Mayai Leikai, Yairipok Nongbram Awang LeikaI, Top Awang Leikai, Takhel Panthoibi Bazar, Mayang Langjing, Loitang Khunou, Wangkhei Ayangpali, Kongpal, Okram Chuthek, Singjamei Thongkhong, Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai, Haobam Marak, Naorem Leikai Lairembi Lampak, Khagempali Nambul Mapal, Pishumthong Ningom Leirak, Khongman Zone-IV, Laipham Khunou, Oinam Bazar etc.
