Imphal, May 20 2017:
The Government has listed some two/three persons suspected to be involved in triggering an IED blast at Khudengthabi-Kwatha junction of Imphal-Moreh highway yesterday which left three commando personnel injured, stated Chief Minister N Biren.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam and DGP LM Khaute, the Chief Minister visited the injured commando personnel at Shija Hospital this afternoon.
Speaking to media persons after visiting the injured personnel, N Biren condemned the attack in the strongest term.
He also appealed to all concerned to refrain from such violent activities in future.
Even though the identities of the attackers could not be established as of now, intelligence reports have listed some two/three suspects but it would be premature to divulge their names, he said.
Search operations have been already launched in pursuit of the suspects and they would be booked according to law.
If such violent attacks continue any longer, the Government would be compelled to take up strong actions, Biren stated.
While appealing to all sections of the people to promote peace and harmony, the Chief Minister stated that all issues can be resolved through dialogues.
Laying ambush upon security personnel on duty is an act of cowardice.
The Chief Minister announced that the Government would bear all the medical expenses of the four injured commando personnel until they are fully recovered.
He stated that Parliamentary Secretary L Sushindro went to Kwatha to make a direct assessment of the poor economic condition of the people of Kwatha.
"He went there at my suggestion to set up Self Help Groups for economic alleviation of the people Kwatha village", Biren added.
