The new BJP-led Government in Assam will be sworn in on May 24 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal said on Friday.
The oath-taking ceremony will be held at Khanapara field in Guwahati, Sonowal told PTI.
Leading the alliance, BJP won 60 of the 126 Assam Assembly seats.
Its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodo Peoples Front emerged victorious in 14 and 12 Constituencies respectively.
Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday thanked the people of the North Eastern State for 'overwhelming love' .
Elated over BJP's spectacular victory in Assam dethroning 15-year rule of Congress, Sonowal took to Twitter and assured that he was ready to take the State on the path to progress.
'Assam has voted for change, for prosperity, for peace, for good governance.
I am ready, our Alliance is ready, to take Assam to progress,' Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted.
On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader had said: "Issues like infiltration, sealing of the Indo-Bangla border, problems of small tea growers, unemployment � are the major challenges.
We will work together (with allies) to resolve these issues." He had also said that a list will be prepared with names of "bonafide" Indian citizens.
The BJP and its alliance partners Asom Gana Parishad and Bodo Peoples Party swept the Assam Assembly polls garnering a total 41.5 percent vote share, while the defeated ruling Congress got 31 percent of the total votes polled.
The saffron party, which is forming the Government in the State for the first time, upped its presence from only six MLAs to 60 and has secured voteshare of 29.5 percent by logging 49,92,185 votes, according to the Election Commission's website.
