Imphal, July 19 2016:
The State BJP is not taking lightly the complaints regarding discrepancies in the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State, convener of State BJP Election Management Committee Th Chaoba said.
Addressing media persons today at BJP office located at Nityapat Chuthek, Th Chaoba said that complaints regarding discrepancies in the implementation of NFSA, which was launched in the State by the CM a few months back, have been pouring in from different quarters on a daily basis.
Chaoba accused the State Govt officials of taking personal advantage of the benefits meant for the poor through delaying tactics.
Although the NFSA was enforced in 2013, the same was launched here in April this year only.
He further expressed misgivings about the State Govt's inability to distribute ration cards to the beneficiaries till today.
It is very unfortunate that the State Govt could do nothing within the span of three years.
Saying that the monthly allocation of rice for the State is 1.51 lakh ton, Chaoba asked where the rice allocated to the State for four months have gone.
He also accused the CM and the authority concerned of giving the State share of rice under the Act to their cohorts.
Chaoba said that even as a PIL in this connection was filed at Manipur High Court in April this year after the authority concerned failed to redress several grievances, no proper hearing of the case has been held so far.
Pointing out that other items under the Act such as sugar and kerosene are embezzled, Th Chaoba said it is now the time for the people of the State to stand against the corrupt Congress Govt of Manipur.
Chaoba expressed discontentment that the District Grievances Redressal Committee of each district has failed to entertain or redress the grievances raised from several quarters through the media.
The State BJP will apprise the matter to the Central leaders and demand a thorough probe into the allegations, he said.
Prominent party leaders and office bearers like Poireihanba, Basanta and Lala attended the press meet.
