Left parties in search of third front

Imphal, March 19 2013:
On account of the UPA-II Government's misplaced economic policies, people are extremely disappointed with the Congress party.
As such there is no possibility either for Congress or BJP to come to power at the Centre.
Given such a political scenario, Left parties have started preparation to form a new Government together with other like minded parties, claimed CPI Manipur State Council Secretary Dr M Nara.
On being enquired about the appeal of O Joy of MPP to all Opposition parties to field a common candidate in the next Lok Sabha election, Dr Nara said that informal talks have been initiated on the proposal for a common candidate But CPI is more interested in searching a common candidate for all political parties with the exception of Congress, BJP and NPF, he stated.
CPI National Council meeting was held at Delhi from March 15 to 17 and it deliberated at length on myriad issues ranging from escalation in the prices of almost all commodities including petrol and diesel during UPA-II Government to concealment of black money in foreign banks.
There was a general strike across the country on February 20 and 21 which was a manifestation of people's anger and frustration against the UPA Government, Dr Nara asserted.
Political alliances forged by Congress and BJP have started disintegrating because of their pro-rich and anti-poor policies.
Wrong and anti-people policies of Congress and BJP were discussed at the National Council meeting.
The meeting also passed resolution recommendation repeal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from Manipur.
Even as the Justice Jeevan Reddy Committee has recommended abolition of AFSPA, the UPA Government has not given any thought to the same recommendation, Dr Nara decried.
