List of disappeared persons submitted to CBI

Imphal, January 19 2015:
With reference to the letter submitted by the Government of Manipur to the Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation into the discovery of human skulls and bones during excavation at the erstwhile Tombisana High School Complex, Imphal on December 25 last, Human Rights Initiative (HRI) has submitted a list of 22 persons who have been reported to be enforced disappearance/missing suspected in the hands of security forces since 1980 to the investigating agency for further probe under U.D.Case No.9/City-PS/2014 U/s 174 Cr.P.C so as to establish whether the skulls and bones are that of disappeared persons or not.
In its application, HRI requested the Director, CBI and his team to investigate the matter sincerely for the sake of peace and justice by testing the blood/DNA of the skulls and bones and that of the victim families or other appropriate evidences for identification of those persons, as to whether there is anybody among the disappeared persons.
Further, HRI urged the CBI to meet those family members of the disappeared persons and take up appropriate action during the investigation to wipe out the tears of the ill-fated families for the end of justice.
Meanwhile, HRI has exhorted all the citizens and civil societies of the State to launch peaceful and democratic movement for pressurizing the Government of Manipur to pursue the matter with the Secretary, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training, Govt.of India for necessary notification so that the CBI can take up the case at the earliest.
HRI further assured that it will co-operate and support COMGAT (Committee on Mass Grave Against Tombisana High School) for further people democratic movement and appealed to all the people of Manipur to report/SMS to the Families of the Involuntarily Disappeared's Association, Manipur (FIDAM) (9856259164) or mail to [email protected] for any involuntarily disappeared or still missing.
