Bomb from scraps explode, 2 hurt

Imphal, November 17 2011:
At least two people sustained injuries when a bomb found among scraps exploded at Uripok today.
The bomb exploded at a scrapped metal collection house at Uripok Yambem Leikai near Heritage Convent School this afternoon.
The bomb was reportedly brought there together with scrap metals.
One Opendra Kumar engaged in the scrap metal collection house was cutting a cylindrical metal object when it exploded suddenly like a bomb.
The explosion caused injuries to Opendra and Laishram Kaoba (42) of Langthabal Lep who came there to take his child from Heritage Convent School.
Both of them have been admitted in RIMS.
It is reported that Kaoba sustained more grievous injuries.
Opendra Kumar (32) is a native of Sitabari district, Bihar and is currently staying at Majorkhul.
The cylindrical metal object contained aluminium and brass components.

After cutting the cylindrical object, Opendra was trying to open it by using wedge and hammer when it exploded all of a sudden at about 12.30 pm.
The impact of the explosion shattered rear wind-shields of two school vans parked nearby.
It is reported that cylindrical metal object was sold there together with scrapped metals a few days back by a woman.
Lamphel Police have registered a case and launched investigation into the incident.
