Imphal, July 17 2013:
In yet another disturbing incident, a 9-year-old girl has been hospitalised after a 20-year-old youth allegedly raped her.
The incident happened at Nungoi Makha Leikai of Imphal East district at around 8 am today.
According to the family of the victim, the girl was raped by her neighbour Leimapokpam Athemba when she went to his house.
As the girl returned home crying and bleeding in her private parts, they enquired what had happened to her.
The girl then narrated the beastly tale, they added.
Even as Athemba was rounded up by the villagers and handed over to police, the victim was hospitalised at RIMS Hospital.
The minor victim is now reading in class III in a nearby Government school.
Lamlai police station has taken up a case regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, JAC constituted against the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl, who was abducted from Masjid road, alleged that police have cheated the JAC.
In a press conference held at the office of Zeliangrong Union at Kakhulong, JAC convenor Kakamlunglu Kamei said that police investigation into the incident is not transparent.
Kakamlunglu added that police have cheated the JAC by bringing the main accused before the Court on July 16 although police had earlier assured the JAC to produce the accused before the Court on July 21 .
The convenor added that nothing would go right if police favour
the accused.
Kakamlunglu also said that police must not act in such a way that the accused gets bail.
As the sections of Juvenile Justice Act must be enforced in the trial of the case, the convenor opined that police must take utmost care during the course of investigation.
