Potentials of Cultural varsity highlighted

Establishment of a Cultural University in the State would go a long way in preserving and promoting the rich culture of Manipur and the Cultural University would be an invaluable asset for the whole State for many generations, stated Chief Minister O Ibobi.
He was speaking at the 57th foundation day of the Cultural Forum, Manipur at JN Manipur Dance Academy today.
The history of Manipur is told succinctly in the culture and literature of the land.
"If we are determined to do something which would be appreciated by the international community, we can certainly achieve such epoch-making milestones even though Manipur is a tiny State", Ibobi asserted.
Until all the requisite infrastructure are procured/constructed, the Cultural University would be opened at an appropriate site for the time being.

He also assured all possible assistance to the Cultural Forum Manipur at his personal level and as the Chief Minister of the State.
One prominent feature of the foundation day celebration was felicitation of Sahitya Akademi Awardees and other National Awardees.
Moreover, the Cultural Forum Lifetime Achievement Award 2015 was also presented to five individuals.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and Cultural Forum Manipur president Prof N Khagendra graced the function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Key founder members of the forum namely Y Sarat, Dr S Chaoba and Ch Radhachoron were also felicitated at the function.
Last year's Padmasree Awardee Dr S Bimolakumari, National Teacher Awardee Kh Sunita, Sahitya Akademi Awardee (Literature) Dr N Bidyasagar and Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize winner W Ibotombi were also felicitated.
Cultural Forum Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on five individuals namely N Itomcha (Nat Sankirtan), N (O) Ibeni (Khongjom Parva), S Jati (Shumang Kumhei), W Lukhoi (Lai Haraoba) and Kshetrimayum Amuyaima (Sankirtan-Percussion) .
Works Minister Dr Ratankumar lauded the dedication of the cultural exponents of Manipur in their respective fields.
Manipur can earn more fame and glory once the National Sports University and the Cultural University become fully functional, said N Khagendra.
