Imphal, May 16 2013:
The Tangkhul Naga Valley Students' Association (TNVSA) has raised strong objection against frequent transfer orders issued by the CEO, ADC Ukhrul pertaining to around 300 school teachers serving under ADC Ukhrul in the past two months.
When The Sangai Express contacted the CEO, LN Kashung this afternoon to get his side of the story, the officer said that the charges are baseless and without foundation.
Speaking to The Sangai Express the officer said that during a meeting held in December last year, it was found that the proportions between the students and teachers were absurd in some schools.
It was to rationalise the posting and transfer of teachers that fresh transfer orders were issued.
The transfer and posting was also actuated after the matter was brought up before the Education Committee of the Ukhrul ADC, he said.
'There is no intention of harrassing any teachers," he iterated.
According to a statement issued by the students' body, the CEO, ADC Ukhrul issued a transfer order on March 2 this year for 296 school teachers.
Again, 257 teachers were transferred by another order issued on April 17 .
This was followed by another transfer order dated 24/04/2013 with respect to 27 teachers.
The three transfer orders which were issued within a short span of 53 days caused tremendous hardship to the teachers who have to submit their joining report to the schools concerned and again submit the authorization report to the ADC Ukhrul office.
Besides issuing transfer orders (of teachers) in such erratic manner, the CEO has been exercising his official power in a very whimsical manner at the behest of some teachers with vested interest for his personal gain, the TNVSA alleged.
In addition to the teachers who have been victimised by the frequent transfer orders, students are also suffering a lot as mid-term examinations are going on.
Unless the concerned and competent authority of the Government of Manipur act promptly to streamline the malpractices carried out by the CEO, ADC Ukhrul, the students at large who are the hope of the next generation shall be shattered to the extent that there shall definitely be disorder in the society, conveyed the students' body.
TNVSA has also submitted copies of a complaint highlighting all these points to the TD &Hills Minister and the Chairman, ADC Ukhrul.
