Government issues Covid-19 Regulations 2020

In an attempt to combat the alarming spread of Covid-19, the State Government has issued the 'Manipur Epidemic Diseases, Covid-19 Regulations, 2020', apart from directing both Government and private hospitals to set up Covid-19 screening corners/centres for screening suspected cases.
According to a top official of the Health Department, Manipur does not have a single case of the virus so far but looking after the threat posed by it, the State Government issued the Manipur Epidemic Diseases, Covid-19 Regulations, 2020 as a temporary regulation under sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 .
The regulation directs all Government and private hospitals in the State to have a Covid-19 screening centre set up and to record the travel history of any individual who come for scree- ning at such centres, apart from taking up steps to quarantine the individual in case of suspicion.
The source continued that the regulation also prohibits individual/institution/organisation from using any print or electronic media for spreading information regarding Covid-19 without prior permission of the Health Department so as to avoid rumours.
It also prohibits private laboratories from taking or testing samples for Covid-19 in the State.
The regulation further made it clear that if a case of Covid-19 is reported from an area, the said area will be sealed and entry and exit of people will be barred.
The source informed that all private and Government schools and colleges have been closed down till March 31 and Moreh gate No 1 and 2 have been sealed as well.
According to an office memorandum issued by the Home Department, restrictions have been placed against gathering of more than 100 people, unless it is related with religious activities like marriages, Shradha etc, without proper approval from the district administration concerned.
It also cau- tioned against organising any meetings, conferences, workshops and conventions.
The source informed that a Police Constable was suspended yesterday for announcing the presence of Covid-19 in the State, through mike on top of a police gypsy.
The source then stated that the Health Department sent a sample for necessary testing today.
