RIMS records highest donation of blood

RIMS Blood Bank today recorded highest number of donors turning up at a blood donation camp organised by Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF) in connection with the Patriots Day observance.
AOF Corporate Communication Manager Sarbani Bhattacharya said, "In all, 225 Amway distributors and Amway staff turned up for the noble task on the auspicious occasion, out of which 219 donors including 40 women donated blood after screening" .
According to RIMS Blood Bank authorities, it was the highest number of blood donation in a single day, she added.
The blood donation camp was organised by AOF, the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India Enterprises Pvt Ltd in association with RIMS to pay a befitting tribute to the martyrs of Anglo Manipur war of 1891 .
Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion HOD of RIMS, Prof A Meina formally inaugurated the camp at RIMS campus.
In connection with the said observance, the Lions and Lioness Club of Imphal in collaboration with 28 Assam Rifles of 9 sector and Manipur Police Department also organised a blood donation camp at RIMS Hospital today, said a PRO IGAR (S) while informing that maximum number of volunteer donors donated blood.
Jawans of the AR unit also donated their blood for the noble cause.
On the otherhand, one-day blood donation camp was organised jointly by 33 Assam Rifles and Lions Club of Moirang in collaboration with JN Hospital Blood Bank at Moirang College premises.
Men of 33 AR showed positive community participation by volunteering and donating blood and helped the Lions Club organisation to their targets units, said a PIB (DW) release.
