Magnifying its election campaign towards garnering public support a vehicle rally was organised here today by People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) Ukhrul.
The rally was held under the aegis of its president, Dickson Ngalung and PDA secretary HA Vareishang.
The rally began from Naga Gate at 3 pm and proceeded till the Kharasom junction and finally assembled at the office of PDA near Ukhrul Town Hall thereafter.
In the sidelines of the rally HA Vareishang informed that it was the first of its kind in the district ever initiated during the election season which is very symbolic and historic, where around 85 to 90 number of various types of vehicle took part in the rally to show solidarity to PDA candidate Mani Charenamei for the Outer Parliamentary Constituency which will go to poll on April 16 .
Vareishang further informed that no other candidates and their parties have ever organised such a huge mass rally for they know that the response they might face will be truly disappointing on their part particularly in Ukhrul.
During the vehicle rally the rallyists shouted slogans, like "Vote for PDA candidate Mani Charenamei, we support PDA, Long live PDA etc" along with hoisting of party symbol at all the corners of the streets in the headquarters.
Meanwhile, as per the directive of the United Naga Council (UNC), a monitoring committee consisting of all the social organisations like Tangkhul Naga Long, Tangkhul Naga Wungnaolong, Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Tangkhul Mayar Ngala long (Youth Council), Tangkhul Shanao Long and four zones chairmen of the district (TNL Longphang), has been formed.
While interacting with The Sangai Express president TNL cum convenor Monitoring Committee, Stephen Angkang and president TMNL cum secretary Monitoring committee, Zanyo Varam stated that the committee will adhere to the resolution adopted by the UNC and maintain solidarity with the UNC's directive and resolution.
The committee has also taken up systematic strategy and programme to reach out this mission to all the villages in the district to serve our interest based on the prevailing issues, they said.
