Imphal, February 13 2013:
Declaring that educational institutions unable to produce documents of Government recognition would be shut down, student body DESAM has asked parents/guardians to withdraw their wards from unrecognised schools.
Sustaining its drive since January 31 to ascertain veracity on whether educational institutions conform to recognition formalities, DESAM inspection teams reportedly came across a number of schools that had no document to support its functioning.
Speaking to newspersons at its Keishampat office today, DESAM general secretary Arambam Thoithoi Singh claimed that many schools were found to be operating without affiliation to the Board of Secondary Education Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary Education or to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) .
He informed that authorities of Bright Career Academy (Lamlai), Morning Colony School (Yaingangpokpi), Asui Memorial School (Yaingangpokpi), Paramount Standard English School (Laikoiching), Ideal Public School (Mayang Langjing), Phumlou Junior High School and Kangleipak Modern School (Singda) could not furnish relevant documents that BOSEM or COHSEM granted recognition.
Even though some of these schools had recognition certificates from competent authority for lower classes in most cases the higher classes (Class VIII to X) were found to be functioning without conforming to recognition criteria, said the general secretary.
Similarly, Ram Krishna Higher Secondary School, Ghari Makha Leikai is not recognised by the CBSE even though the school claimed to be a CBSE-recognised institute, Thoithoi maintained while explaining that the DESAM inspection teams carried out the drive armed with official list of recognised schools issued by the Board, Council as well as CBSE.
Pointing out that parents/guardians would regret in the future upon discovering that their children studying currently in such dubious schools are not permitted to appear in annual examinations, Thoithoi reiterated DESAM's appeal to withdraw the students and get them admitted only in recognised schools.
He further asserted that DESAM would undertake all relevant measures to close down educational institutions without valid recognition documents.
