Imphal, November 12 2011:
To take stock of the prevailing situation in Manipur and also to campaign for BJP ahead of the Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, Opposition leader in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj is set to arrive here on December 10 .
The BJP central committee has adopted a resolution in this regard, said BJP general secretary Tapir Gao.
A reception function was organised in honour of M Chungsei Haokip joining BJP.
Chungsei Haokip was earlier elected to the State Assembly from Saikot AC and held a ministerial post earlier.
Speaking at the reception function, BJP general secretary Tapir Gao said a 14-member BJP team led by Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj would visit Manipur on December 10 in connection with the myriad issues plaguing Manipur and the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
The team would include Opposition leader in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, BJP president Nitin Gadkari, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shanker Prasad and many general secretaries, said Tapir Gao.
The team would also include presidents of North Eastern BJP units.
Tapir Gao said that BJP has been moving forward to forge an alliance with Opposition parties of Manipur to form a new Government in place of the incumbent Congress Government so as to herald peace and development in Manipur.
Claiming that BJP has received positive response from non-Congress parties to its initiative to set up a united front, Tapir Gao said that the Opposition parties would come to an understanding and that they would be able to fight Congress under a common banner.
Asserting that President's Rule should be imposed in Manipur in place of the Congress-led Government which has failed miserably in addressing the plight of the public, Tapir Gao asserted that only para-military forces should be used in Manipur elections.
M Chungsei Haokip said that tribal people of the North Eastern region put faith in Congress party and they have been electing Congress candidates.
But the SPF Government led by Congress has been pursuing divide and rule policy instead of fulfilling the promises it made to the people.
Chungsei Haokip said that he joined BJP with a vision to install a new Government in the State.
The function was also attended by BJP State unit president Sh Shantikumar.
