"Higher Secondary School in remote villages will improve rural education, reduce burden of parents"

Establishment of Higher Secondary Schools in extreme border villages by the State Government would improve rural education and reduce financial burden of parents in their children, said Khashim Vashum MLA 45-Chingai A/C.Kashim Vashum made the statement during an inauguration and foundation laying programme of the newly upgraded New Tusom Higher Secondary School held at Mayatang New Tusom village.
The visiting MLA was given a warm reception at Chingai and Challou village on his way to Tusom.
The programme began with a prayer, followed by unveiling of foundation stone by Khashim Vashum in the presence of ZEO Ukhrul, RK Makaohei Singh; Headmen, VAs, SMDC, VDC and leaders of neighbouring villages.

Speaking on the occasion, Khashim Vashum expressed his gratitude to the Education Minister and Education Department for selecting Frontier High School and upgrading New Tusom Hr Sec School in order to provide education opportunities at remote villages.
The MLA said, "proposal for infrastructure development of Higher Secondary school is underway and all possible fund sources from BADP, DRDA, SSA will be utilised in consultation with District Administration and ZEO to continue the new academic session smoothly without any hindrances".
He urged the villagers of Tusom to extend their support and cooperation in order to make the educational institution a centre for all the neighbouring villages.
The MLA also assured to sponsor the admission cost of all students admitted in New Tusom Hr Sec School.
Meanwhile, the headman of New Tusom village also urged the MLA to upgrade the PHSC to PHC and to look into the issue of water shortage in the village.
The headman also submitted a memorandum to the MLA in this regard.
SMDC convener, Chinaorar Horam mentioned that the upgradation of Tusom Government school which was established in 1975 to Higher Secondary by the State Education Department was a blessing for all.
It may be mentioned that the new Tusom Higher Secondary School would become an education centre for the villages of Wahong, Soraphung, Kharasom, Challou, Kuingai, etc.
Shangam M Vashum donated 6 acres of land for the school.
