Two arms dealers held

Imphal, July 10 2017:
Troops of Veng Battalion under the aegis of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles of Red Shield Division apprehended two arms dealers in an operation carried out on July 5 .
According to a statement issued by the PIB, Defence, Imphal, based on an input regarding presence of arms dealers in Lanva and Ngathal areas of Churachandpur, an operation was launched by troops of Veng Battalion which resulted in apprehension of two arms dealers along with an AK-47 Rifle .
The apprehendees were identified as Ginthinsiam (53) s/o (L) Lamkhup of Lungthul L village, Churachandpur district and Anekhennang (45) s/o (L) Thkam of Ngathal village, Churachandpur district .
The apprehended arms dealers revealed that they were involved in smuggling of arms to various UG groups in Churachandpur district, the release said .
The apprehended arms dealers along with recovered weapon were handed over to Churachandpur Police for further investigation, it added.
