Lamkang students decry assault of couple

Chandel, May 10 2016:
Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (LKK), a student body, has strongly condemned the physical assault, looting and vandalising of a vehicle owned by a couple of Lamkang community at Kwakeithel Takhel Leikai on May 8 .
The student body in a statement signed by its president Th Rengthang Lamkang said the act of assault by miscreants in the heart of the State capital is a direct insult not only to the Lamkang community but other minority communities of the State.
The student body will not tolerate such mindless acts in future, it said.
The student body has also warned of launching agitations in the form of bandh if authorities concerned fail to book those involved in the act at the earliest.
It may be mentioned that some miscreants allegedly assaulted a couple from Purum Pantha (Phaidam) village, Chandel and looted cash amounting to Rs 80,000 at Kwakeithel Takhel Leikai, Imphal West while returning from Churachandpur on the night of May 8 .
