Gaikhangam opens sports meet

Imphal, March 10 2016:
The 1st Inter-College Sports Meet 2016 organised by All Colleges Tribal Students' Union (ACTSU) has kick started at THAU ground from today.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that learning never ends in a man's life.
As such, every man is a student till he dies.
Lack of goodness has become the most dreaded disease now, he said and added that one must possess good discipline and maintain physical mental wellbeing to become a responsible and affable person.
Saying that sports is also part of education, Gaikhangam said that knowledge would not serve its purpose if one's health is not good.
Maintaining that hill and valley is the father and mother of all the people of Manipur, Gaikhangam said that every citizen of the State is a Manipuri and they have their own responsibilities to build up the State.
ATSUM president Joseph Hmar urged the parents not to hesitate in sending their children to Imphal for education.
Saying that Imphal is a safe place, Joseph urged the tribal people not to consider themselves as second class citizens while in Imphal.
MUTSU president Bosco Jaiche Kharam also attended the opening function.
Gaikhangam opened the sports meet by lighting up the torch and hoisting the flag.
On the opening day, a football match between FC United (Executive) and Liberal College (A) was held.
