Cong re-constitutes screening body BJP set to form election committee

Even as around 100 people have taken nomination forms for Congress party so far, the party's screening committee for the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election has been re-constituted.
Meanwhile, BJP's Manipur in-charge Prahlad Singh Patel and Organisation Secretary Ajay Jamwal arrived here today and discussed several poll related matters including constitution of State election committee.
The newly re-constituted screening committee of the Indian National Congress (INC) is headed by Ramesh Chennithala as chairman.
The other members of the committee are INC's Manipur in-charge and AICC general secretary Dr CP Joshi, Chief Minister O Ibobi, MPCC president TN Haokip, Jitendra and Subhankar Sarkar.
Out of 100 nomination forms collected so far, around 50 have submitted their nomination forms.
Notably, the last date for collection and submission of nomination forms for Congress tickets is January 25 (till 4 pm).
While BJP's Manipur in-charge Prahlad Singh Patel and organisation secretary Ajay Jamwal arrived here today, the party's North East in-charge Ram Madhav will arrive here tomorrow to oversee election related matters.
They would hold a meeting with party leaders of the State tomorrow.
The gathering would focus on forming a State election committee with the president of BJP Manipur Pradesh as chairman tomorrow itself, informed a source.
The meeting may discuss about calling intending BJP candidates and deliberate on the most prospective candidates, added the source.
