Heirok demands

Demanding institution of an independent Enquiry Commission to probe surrender ceremonies in the State, demobilisation of armed cadres of UG groups, to minimise the number of AR forces in the State, giving capital punishment to those involved in luring youths from Heirok with a promise to provide jobs including the 42 AR personnel posted at Chandel are, among others, the resolutions adopted at a public meeting held today at Heirok Part-II HS ground under the aegis of POCIL, the apex body of 21 clubs of Heirok area.
The public meeting, held against the backdrop of seven youths of Heirok enticed for a surrender ceremony recently, was also attended by Gram Panchayat and Zilla Parishad members of Heirok Part-I, II and III .
The public meeting also resolved to stage a public rally at Heirok if the Home Minister fails to deliver punishment against the culprits involved in luring the Heirok youths for an alleged surrender drama within five days from now.
At the same time, the public meeting also demanded that the Home Minister should resign from his post on moral ground if he could not assure to control rampant crimes and human trafficking in the State.
