Imphal, April 09 2013:
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar has stated that repairing work on the 20 Kms long Senapati-Maram section of NH 2 would be completed before this rainy season.
An official team led by Dr Kh Ratankumar and RD &PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa today conducted a spot assessment of the ongoing repairing work on the Senapa-ti-Maram section of the highway.
The team observed that only two hot mix plants installed at Lairou are being utilised in the highway repairing work.
Acting on the instruction of the Chief Minister to finish repairing the highway stretch before this rainy season, the two Ministers surveyed a site at Maram centre for installation of another hot mix plant.
The team then visited Karong and instructed officials to put into service the hot mix plant installed there from tomorrow itself in order to expedite the highway repairing work.
Later speaking to media persons, Dr Kh Ratankumar claimed that repairing work on the highway stretch has been completed by 50 per cent.
The remaining portions would be completed before the rainy season.
For this, three hot mix plants would be pressed into service from tomorrow and another hot mix plant would also be installed at Maram Centre in the next couple of days.
To a query, the Works Minister informed that due sanction is being sought from the Centre for improvising the 27 Kms long Maram-Mao section of the same highway.
Once the sanction is obtained, the highway repairing work would be initiated immediately.
As for speed-breakers dotting the highway at different points, it was local people and security forces who put up at the speed-breakers at their own will.
The department would take up necessary measures to remove these speed-breakers shortly, stated Dr Ratankumar.
The team also inspected the ongoing development work of Hiyang Hiden.
