CADA organises awareness campaign on drug-use during polls

As part of the series of anti-drug campaigns organised by Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA), CADA Bishnupur District Committee on Sunday conducted an awareness campaign on "Role of public in keeping tab on drug-use during polls" at Moirang Khunou Bazar in Bishnupur district.
The awareness programme was conducted in view of the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, 2022, said a release issued by CADA.
It was attended by Phairembam Shyama, president CADA Moirang Khunou Bazar Unit; Dipanjit Ningthoujam, vice president CADA; Huiningsumbam Basanti, president CADA Bishnupur District Committee and Thiyam Maningou, ex-chairman Moirang Khunou Bazar Board.
Speaking on the occasion, Geetchandra Mangang, secretary general of CADA expressed his concern over the increasing trend of electoral candidates handing out drugs and liquor to the public to secure votes.
He also lamented that many people use the candidates as a 'Wishing Ring' to demand anything they want during the elections.
Thiyam Maningou expressed his appreciation to CADA for organising the campaign to spread awareness on drug abuse during elections when the police and Meira Paibis have been left ineffective.
He continued that it is high time for everyone to come together against drug abuse.
Similarly, CADA Pangaltabi Unit and CADA Kakching District Committee also jointly organised an awareness campaign against drug abuse during elections at Pangaltabi Chingkha Ima Thumkhong Commmunity Hall in Kakching district.
It was attended by Ningthoujam Doren, vice president CADA; Mayengbam Tombimacha, ex-president CADA Pangaltabi Unit and Sorokhaibam Nena, president CADA Kakching District Committee.
Mayengbam Budhi, secretary organisation of CADA also attended the event as resource person.
