Imphal, December 08 2011:
With financial condition of the State Government getting aggravated, the SPF Government has banned purchase of new vehicles by any of its department.
A top official in Finance Department informed that the ban on purchase of new vehicles was enforced with a view to check the worsening financial condition of the State.
An order to this effect was issued by the Finance Department last month.
In view of the debilitating financial condition of the State, certain measures devised by the Finance Department have been implemented so as to ensure regular payment of employees' salaries and also to not to stall any of the projects currently under progress.
Two major factors for the sudden downturn in the State's financial condition are implementation of the 6th Central Pay and recruitment of Government employees to a large number of posts.
Yet, the State Government has not taken any Wage and Means advance from the Reserve Bank of India so far.
Of the State's total budget amount of Rs 6000 crores, the State's resources only constitute 10 per cent, added the official.
