Workshop on paper setting and evaluation kicks off 'Gateway opened for higher edn'

With three education related Bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly yesterday, the State would definitely have better and greater facilities for higher education in the coming years, stated Education Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar.
He was speaking at the opening session of a five-day workshop on techniques of paper setting and evaluation at GP Women's College today.
Education Minister Kh Ratankumar, COHSEM (Higher and Technical Education) Director Th Chitra and GP Women's College Principal Md Abdul Gaffar attended the opening session as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
As the Manipur Technical University Bill 2016, the Dhanamanjuri University Bill 2016 and the Manipur State Higher Education Council Bill 2016 have already been passed, students can now pursue different higher education courses of their choices without taking the trouble of going outside the State.
The State would certainly see marked changes in the field of higher education in the coming years, Dr Ratankumar asserted.
With a view to enable State students compete at the National level, teachers would be trained on setting question papers and evaluation of answer sheets, he said.
Teachers need to be imparted trainings of different kinds from time to time so as to make the Government's initiative to make Manipur a leading State in the field of education, Ratankumar added.
Th Chitra said that teachers need to be dynamic in tune with the changing facets of education so as to ensure that Manipur is not left behind in the race for modern education.
Teachers should be skilful in the art of teaching, Chitra said.
Altogether 250 teachers from different districts of the State are participating in the workshop.
Prof AD Tiwari, Prof Veepal Singh and Prof Kriti Kapur from NCERT, New Delhi attended the first day of the workshop as resource persons.
COHSEM Secretary Dr Bidyasagar said that it was the third workshop organised by COHSEM on evaluation of answer sheets.
