Imphal, March 06 2021:
All types of construction activities in the National Sports University (NSU) complex and water supply from the river flowing through Konsakhul village will be banned with effect from March 9, said Konsakhul Area Joint Action Committee today.
In a statement, the committee said that the Government is playing with fire by not declaring Konsakhul village as the rightful owner of the National Sports University (NSU) site.
Accusing the Government of abdicating its responsibilities, KAJAC asserted that a meeting chaired by YAS Minister Letpao Haokip on February 25 at the conference hall of the Secretariat (South Block), Imphal was apparently a "delay tactic and an attempt to hoodwink the genuine stakeholder" .
The meeting turned out to be a total fiasco as a tangible conclusion couldn't be arrived at, it said.
KAJAC further alleged that the Government had abdicated its responsibility and given free hands to "fictitious and bogus stakeholders" .
In the backdrop of the February 25 meeting, KAJAC said that it has come to understand that without the participation or intervention of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, it cannot expect any amicable solution as far as NSU imbroglio is concerned in any future meeting.
"Being the lawful landowner, we have every right to stop the illegal encroachment because this is our legitimate rights to protect and defend ancestral land inherited from our forefathers" .
Therefore, after threadbare deliberation on the ongoing NSU issue, it is resolved that, if the State Government fails to address the legitimate demands of Konsakhul Area Joint Action Committee (KAJAC) on or before March 9, then all types of construction activities for the National Sports University (NSU) complex in "our land including water supply from our river" will be banned with effect from March 9 .
Further, KAJAC will be compelled to resort to all possible means to fight for their rights till the last man standing.
In the event of any untoward incident in connection with the NSU issue, the State Government will be responsible, asserted the committee.
