Imphal, December 05 2016:
Enraged BJP workers stormed the residence of Thangmeiband Ward no 3 Councillor H Nutunchandra, today after he defected to the Congress party.
A large group of enraged BJP workers stormed the residence of the Councillor in the afternoon but a team of Imphal West police including some women police arrived at the scene to prevent any unwanted incident from happening.
The workers also burnt an effigy of Nutunchandra and raised many slogans expressing their deep disappointment.
Maibam ongbi Memtombi, a resident of ward no 3, said," The councillor has betrayed us by taking away funds and promising to construct drainage systems, provide old age pension, housing loans and to construct low cost sanitary latrines.
He seems to have fled from BJP because we asked him to clean up the garbage and filth."

She said that Nutunchandra was also involved in an earlier scandal when he had taken funds promising to provide President Housing Loan for Thangmeiband BJP Mandal but later failed to provide proof in settlement record.
"He could have formally resigned from the party.
He may contest election through Congress ticket in the future but he will never win.
The people of ward no 3 have decided to boycott him for good", she added.
Speaking about the incident, Thangmeiband kendra MLA Joykishan said that BJP had emerged victorious with all four of its councillor candidates winning the past election but it was really unfortunate that councillor Nutunchandra fell into the money-trap laid by the Congress.
He said that murky water and clear water can never mix and as such it is better for such a personality to join the murky side and it should not come as a shock to anyone.
He said, "Today's incident proves that the people of Thangmeiband vehemently opposes the Congress.
If the Congress has guts let's hold a new election with Nutunchandra as their member.
"Forget winning, they would not be able to even recover the deposit amount", he added.
The councillors of ward no 1, 2 and 25 as well as the presidents of both TAKDO and Thangmeiband Kendra BJP Mandal were also present during the meet.
