Imphal, May 05 2023:
Stating that gun culture won't bring any solution, Khundrakpam Constituency MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh has appealed to the people of Saikul and Khundrakpam ACs to cease violence.
The statement of the MLA came after two sections of people carried out violent acts in the adjoining areas of the two Constituencies.
Addressing the media today, Lokeshwar continued that the tragic incidents which have been reported from different places since the past due to misunderstanding among different sections is unfortunate.
He then appealed to all dissenting parties to shun violence.
Saying that violence will not bring any good, the MLA further appealed to all ethnic communities to set aside their differences to protect the integrity of Manipur and India at large.
The MLA also sought assistance from all Manipuris to save the unity and integrity of the State from people with vested interests.
"India is a democratic and secular country.
No solution can be brought about by gun culture and killing each other," he said and appealed to the State Government to hold a dialogue with both the dissenting parties to restore peace.
Saying that the State Government has been working relentlessly to bring the situation under control, the MLA sought more intervention from the Centre.
This series of violence which has been taking place in Manipur affects one and all greatly, he continued and urged the Government at both the Centre and the State to protect the lives of civilians by deploying additional security forces.
Saying that people living in the adjoining areas of Khundrakpam and Saikul have been exposed to threats, Lokeshwar invited the MLA of the neighbouring Constituency and Kuki Inpi for a talk in the larger interest of the people.
