Imphal, May 05 2017:
Two retail outlets (oil pumps) may be taken to task for not distributing fuel to public although they had fuel in stock when people were panic-stricken following cease work strike undertaken by tanker drivers after a tanker convoy escorted by CRPF was attacked by militants.
Together with police, CAF&PD officials conducted a special drive today.
The department would file a detailed report and the same would be submitted to the Chief Minister for necessary action, informed a source.
A signboard embossed with the word 'nil' was found displayed at M/S Jas Gas Agency, Uripok.
However, CAF&PD officials found fuel inside the oil pump.
However in a statement, Jas Gas Station has clarified that the when the officials along with the media arrived at the depot, the petrol had only just been deposited and it was at that point of time when only diesel was on sale.
As soon as the deposited petrol had stabilised inside the tank, sale of petrol and diesel continued, added Jas Gas Station. Similarly, fuel were found inside M/S Uripok Energy Station even though fuel was not distributed to public, informed a source.
10 K1 of petrol and 12 K1 of diesel were found at M/S Jas Gas Agency and another 3.4 K1 of diesel at M/S Uripok Energy Station.
Subsequently, the department has initiated due process to take up exemplary action against the defaulting ROs after due consultation at the level of the Chief Minister, added the source.
