Imphal, November 04 2010:
The manipur People's Party (MPP) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohon Singh urging him to let the people of Manipur know the possession and whereabouts of RK Meghen @ Sana Yaima, Chairman of UNLF at earliest in the interest of the democracy.
Expressing deep sense of surprise and perturbation at the complete silence of the Government of India on the alleged arrest of RK Meghen on September 29 last in Dhaka, president of MPP, Dr Nimaichand Luwang said that it is the normal practice of any democratic government not to conceal the facts of arrest of any person.
The arrested person is to be tried according to the law of the land and be punished or set free after due trial.
But the Government of India is keeping a stoic silence on the arrest of RK Meghen for reasons better known to the authority, Dr Nimaichand said.
Not knowing the whereabouts of the UNLF leader has created unrest among the people of Manipur, the MPP said adding that the party doesn't consider it justified to allow such sensitive issue to linger on.
The party expressed apprehension of an uncontrollable eruption of mass agitation and unrest in the state.
