Ayush hospital to come up in CCpur, Moreh

Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) is set to get a boost in the State as the Union Health Ministry has approved setting up 50-bedded hospitals each for Churachandpur and Moreh, Dr K Lokendro Singh, Director AYUSH, Government of Manipur said today.
'I have got very good information.
Very soon we are going to have 50-bedded AYUSH hospitals in Churachandpur and Moreh.
We sent the proposal to the Union Ministry of Ayush around two months back and the Ministry has approved it,' he said on the side-lines of launching 'Project Belladonna 200' at the district hospital.
The project was taken up by the State as a preventive measure to counter the spread of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) as it is presently reeling under the virus outbreak with scores testing positive and few fatality cases already recorded.
The Director said works for the integrated AYUSH Hospitals will begin once an agency to build the infrastructure is identified.
He is also optimistic that the construction will begin within August.
Besides Churachandpur and Moreh another 10 bedded hospital will also come up at Imphal to substantiate the existing facility in the State capital.
In Churachandpur the AYUSH Hospital will be constructed at Muolvaiphei village, about 5 kms from here to the west where the village chief has donated two acres of land for the purpose, according to Dr Lokendro and noted that he wishes to see the completion of the hospital before next August when he will attain superannuation.
About 7000 sachets of Homeopathic preventive medicine for JE identified as 'Belladonna 200' was handed over to the district health officials at the project launching event.
It will be able to serve about 35000 people said the visiting AYUSH team comprising of Dr A Huneshwor Sharma, State Ayush Officer; Dr L Promila Devi, Jt Director Ayush; Dr K Benedict Maring, State Nodal Officer NHM, Manipur and hoards of Homeopathic Doctors.
'Belladonna 200's effectiveness in preventing the deadly JE virus is said to have been proven in the lab and on humans.
The Homeopathic medicine will be distributed to the public from tomorrow.
The Medical Superintendent of the district hospital will oversee the distribution in the town area while the CMO will be responsible for the outskirts and far flung areas where rampant cases of rival fever similar to the ones witnessed in the town area have been reported of late.
