Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India today declared six villages of Senapati district Bhima Gram village under its policy of recognizing if over 300 head of village inhabitant by 1500 to 5000 villages join LIC policies.
The villages declared as Bhima Gram were Hill Dew village of Saikhul block, Liyii village of Paomata, Phuba Khuman, Sarnamei, Tungam Khullen and Tungjoy villages.
The villages have been recognized as NREGS job card holders of these villages joint the micro insurance of the LIC.
With the declaration of the villages as Bhima Gram villages, officials of the LIC also distributed Rs 25,000 each through their village chief as assistances for taking up improvement works of water supply, power, healthcare, etc.

The financial assistances were above the benefits to be received by the policy holder villagers.
The monetary assistances were distributed in a simple function at state guest house, Imphal organised by the People's Development Society, an agent of the micro insurance of the LIC in which DC Senapati Nidhi Keshwarni graced as chief guest.
Vice-president of PDS, Sh Sabhodayachand presided over the function in which ADC Kangpokpi, Rupachandra, SDOs of Paomata (LN Kasung), Saikhul (Nandakumar) and Gamphajoul (Gouro) and Divisional office (Marketing manager) of LIC Silcher, D Shahu attended as guests of honour.
Addressing as chief guest of the function, Nithi Keshwarni observed that day to day wage earners are not usually able to deposit their earning.
So joining the policy of LIC by the NREGS workers with small amount as assurance for illness and other difficulties will help benefits the poor villagers earning their day to day living.
As women are more prone to such difficulties, the insurance will be more benefitted to them, she said adding that there is a plan to cover all the six blocks of the Senapati district under the assurance of the LIC during 2010-11 .
