Imphal, November 01 2011:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded re-checking of mark-sheets issued to candidates who appeared at the Manipur University conducted BEd examination.
Speaking to news-persons at its office today, Education and Academic Affairs secretary of the student's body P Premchandra claimed that complaints from 15 candidates have been received by DESAM alleging irregularities in mark tabulation.
Citing an example, Premchandra said mark-sheet issued to one candidate of DM College of Teachers' Education indicated the total mark scored in Paper-I (Teacher in emerging Indian Society) as 77, nine more than the total marks she managed as the particular candidate secured 23 in the Internal Assessment while her External Examination Mark was stated as 45 .
Taking into account marks scored by her in all the subjects, inclusive of field-based experiences and co-curricular activities, the marksheet indicated a total of 898 marks contrary to the grand total of 907, the DESAM secretary elaborated.
Expressing that such erroneous mark tabulation compels one to question credibility of Manipur University, he contended that similar mistakes for other candidates could not be ruled out for there is possibility that even candidates declared as successful could have failed and vice versa.
Premchandra suggested that a third party be involved in the reassessment and tabulation of marks secured by all the candidates who appeared in such an important examination.
In her comment, the candidate expressed strong resentment that such faulty marksheets stand to invalidate candidates seeking job for the employer(s) would doubt authenticity of such documents.
The BEd examination was held in between April 21 till May 11, 2011 with the result declared on October 21 .
