Imphal, October 31 2021:
Owner of The Sangai Express Nishikant Singh Sapam has on Sunday stated that his political journey is not associated with the publication whatsoever.
Speaking to media persons during an inauguration of three Team Nishikant offices at Pishum Ningom Leirak, the intending candidate from Keishamthong Constituency continued that he has been in the publication business for long but there is no connection between his political endeavours and the newspaper.
The Sangai Express still continues to publish balanced news, he added.
Saying that one cannot publish newspapers without understanding the sentiments of the people, he added that the entities closest to the people are the media and CSOs.
"As a person in the newspaper publication business, I have been monitoring the situation in Manipur," Nishikant added.

On being asked what inspired him to join electoral politics, Nishikant said that one anchor of a TV show asked him whether Irawat would have spent money had he contested the election.
"As a response to his question, I responded that I would have supported Irawat had he entered electoral politics and also extended monetary assistance," the intending candidate said and continued that he would not have become a politician if there is a leader like Irawat at the moment.
"There are no leaders like Irawat," Nishikant maintained and reiterated his aspiration to bring about a positive change in Manipur.
"I contested from Keishamthong AC as it is my birth place but my dream is not limited to this Constituency," he reasoned.
Later, the owner of The Sangai Express also attended a function at Pishum Ningom Leirak Community Hall.
There, Nishikant contended that corruption has made politics complex in Manipur.
Saying that insincerity is also a form of corruption, he added that lifting this (corruption) hindrance is imperative to take the State forward.
He also stated that vision is the most important aspect in doing politics.
In the vision of a certain leader, his/her experience, milestones and bright outlook are all incorporated, he added.
Further stating that he would not indulge in corruption of any form, Nishikant added that he entered electoral politics, though it cost him money and time, for the people.
He also said that he would not interfere in any contract works and recruitment process if elected.
Saying that he would always work with Team Nishikant and uphold transparency and accountability, he added that he would first work on providing drinking water to every household in Keishamthong if elected to power.
He also said that some people tearing his posters is unfortunate and appealed to the members of Team Nishikant to not pay any attention to such people.
The Team Nishikant will also work for such perpetrators with utmost dedication after winning the election, he said.
Earlier, one office each of Team Nishikant was also opened at Keishampat Kangabam Leikai and Pishum Oinam Leikai.
