Imphal, June 26 2020:
Left Parties have denounced the Government for continuous spike in the prices of petrol and diesel.
Decrying the lack of a clear Government policy to control the price hike, Left parties in a statement said that the present Government is increasing the fuel prices amid the COVID-19 pandemic, even though the price of crude oil have reduced to only 34.63 $ per barrel.
The Left parties had held a protest on June 22 against the "irresponsible" Government, they said adding that the pro-corporate Government is still paying no attention to the issue.
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected around 13 crore households and the increase in fuel prices for the 20th successive time during such a crucial time has added further woes to the poor farmers and middle-class citizens, they said.
Farmers have been badly affected by the spike in the fuel price.
They are facing difficulty and financial constraint in procuring the fuel for farm tractors, water pumps and generators required for agricultural activities, the left paries said.
The Government has taken up relief measures for the farmers but it has failed to deliver its purpose effectively, the Left parties said adding they have decided to protest the whole last week of June against the price hike.
