Md Anwar Ali who allegedly tried to board an IndiGo flight to Kolkata from Imphal with fake Covid test report on July 17 last has been sent to judicial custody till August 6.Md Anwar Ali of Shamsher Nagar, Jharkhand was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today by a team of Singjamei PS after the completion of police remand.
Anwar Ali, loader operator working for Krishna construction company, Mantripukhri Manipur branch was arrested on July 17 after Airport Manager, Interglobe Aviation Limited (Indigo) Imphal reported about possible forgery of Covid test report while performing mandatory verification during flight process.
Earlier the accused revealed that he was engaged in the widening works of two lanes of Churachandpur to Tuivai section.
Today, the IO submitted that Md Anwar Ali had been granted leave for 30 days by his company after he got ill on July 16 and he subsequently booked the flight for July 17 and confirmed it.
Md Anwar, during police custody, revealed that he came to know that RT-PCR test was required for boarding a flight as per the protocol in effect and made up his mind to fake an RT-PCR test result as there was no option available to get Covid test result instantly, the IO submitted.
He had also revealed that he prepared the test report himself at a computer shop at Churachandpur Bazar on July 17 morning and headed for Imphal Airport, the IO submitted.
The IO further submitted that the test report used was undoubtedly a fake as the Deputy General Manager Babina Diagnostic (testing agency as mentioned in the fake result dated July 15) also clarified that no person with the credentials mentioned in the report was registered for testing on the said day.
With his submission, the IO prayed the Court to grant judicial custody remand of the accused for further investigation and the Court on perusal of the case ordered to send the accused to judicial custody till August 6 .
