Imphal, July 21 2021:
Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) has urged the private school authorities to ensure that students do not lose an academic year on the grounds of late admission and other similar reasons.
In a press release, SUK elaborated about the grim situation of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which have impacted the lives of students in the State tremendously.
Many are struggling to make the ends meet and amid such difficult scenario, many parents could not afford to pay the monthly school fees and admission fees on time.
Talking about the recent trend of online classes after the reopening of schools which were shut for almost a year due to COVID-19, the student body said that many students were unable to take the benefits of online classes since many could not afford a smart phone.
Also due to miscommunication between the school authorities and students, many were unaware of the online classes conducted by their respective schools.
Therefore the school authorities should consider the hardships faced by the students and their parents and not deny them admission until and unless the students takes the transfer certificate from their schools concerned.
In cases where the school authorities are unable to contact with the students, the authorities can contact SUK for the same and the student body will find ways to contact the students concerned.
Also in view of the problems caused by the ongoing pandemic, SUK appealed the private school authorities to deduct unnecessary fees from the free structure until the problem of COVID-19 subside.
And the school authorities should notify regarding the admission in local newspapers so that it has a wider reach instead of restricting to school notice boards or websites only.
Expressing concern on the possibility of huge difference among the students of the same class who can afford to attend the online classes and others who cannot afford the same, SUK urged the Government and authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest to ensure that the students are on the same page.
In the light of admission notification of Class 11 issued by various schools, the Students Union of Kangleipak appealed to the school authorities to extend the registration and form submission for some days when the results have been declared by the boards concerned in the interest of the aspiring students.
And regarding the selection process, SUK appealed the school authorities not the select the students on the basis of HSLC marks instead conduct online or off-line entrance tests or on the basis of lottery of the registered applicants thereby providing an equal opportunity to all.
Lastly SUK earnestly appealed to all the school authorities to induct new technologies and applications in the teaching process to produce good students.
