The protesters maintained that they would continue with different modes of agitation until the facts and circumstances behind the death are established.
As the protesters started blocking the road, police intervened and the road was opened.
Later, the JAC submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
On the other hand, Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has decried the State Government's silence on the death of Ningthoujam Babysana of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai inside the hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur.
Joykisan went to the school today and inspected the room where Babysana was found hung to death together with the school's Principal and the hostel warden.
Expressing deep sorrow over the death of the young student, Joykisan remarked that Babysana's death has evoked a serious question on the safety of students staying in hostels and boardings.
There have been many instances of death of students in hostels, rape of girl students and physical torture of boy students.
It is rather disturbing as well as surprising that the State Government has been acting as a mute spectator to all these cases, he decried.
He also expressed strong displeasure against the school authority's failure to come out with a statement on the death of Babysana.
He urged the Government to find all the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Babysana.
Meanwhile, apart from demanding proper investigation into the suspicious death of the Class VII student Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and Apunba Ireipak Maheiroising Sinpanglup (AIMS) have urged the State Government to formulate a policy that governs hostel administration at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Sagolband, DESAM general secretary, Shital Oinam said that mushrooming of hostels and boardings without fulfilling the criteria, improper facilities and man power is very unfortunate.
The students face several inconvenience even while staying at Government's hostel/boarding due to the same insufficiency, he said and expressed disappointment that many unpleasant incidents have happened to the students who stay at hostels.
Hostel and boarding do not only mean providing shelter to the students but it must also have the facility to improve the morale of the students, he said and appealed the State Government to regulate a policy for running hostels at the earliest.
The press meet was also participated by vice president of AIMS, Saikhom Premchand.
