Imphal, March 19 2013:
Expressing shock on learning that out of the 51 children rescued from two children's home in Jaipur, Rajasthan 41 are from Manipur, the Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal has alleged that the children were subjected to inhumane treatment including forceful confinement and sexual abuse.
The children were rescued from an unregistered orphanage home run by one Jacob John at Jaipur, Rajasthan, said the student body.
In a statement, TKLI alleged that even though the Tangkhul Shanao Long, Delhi has informed the matter to the State Government, nothing has been forthcoming from the side of the authority concerned.
The State Government is adamantly silent on the matter.
This is in stark contrast to the prompt response of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, who has called the children back immediately, alleged the student body.
It is a matter of grave concern that while anti-social individuals are playing with the lives of innocent children, the Government remains mute.
Urging the Govt to respond to the plight of the children, the student body also appelaed to all organisations to support the humanitarian cause being taken up.
