Imphal, January 19 2021:
A total of 133 health workers were inoculated with Covishield vaccine today.
The much awaited vaccination against COVID-19 was launched throughout the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16 .
In Manipur, the inoculation drive was launched at JNIMS in the presence of Chief Minister N Biren.
Even though 133 health workers were inoculated at Ukhrul and RIMS, the inoculation drive was suspended at other centres because today is routine immunization day.
So far, 1,111 health workers have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State and there has been no report of any side effect or medical complications, according to information received from Health Department.
Whereas the State Government has set a target of inoculating 1000 people in a day, the target could not be achieved till date as the CoWIN portal developed snags and became two slow.
Meanwhile, it is reported that inoculation against COVID-19 would be done only on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the State as per an instruction from the Central Government.
