WING to Chandel district candidates

Demanding a District court and sustainable peace and development in Chandel district, Women in Governance (WING) promoters submitted a charter of demands to the candidates contesting the 10th State Assembly Elections in Chandel district.
The charter of demands was submitted today to the candidates and WING has also appealed the people of the district to elect candidates who could provide the demands.
The charter of demands included assurance on food security in Chandel district, availability of comprehensive health care facilities in the district, free and compulsory education for all children and development of transport infrastructures.
It also included demands on socio-economy development of the farmers including initiation of new farming technology, employment opportunity among youths, promotion of folk artists, transparency in governance, eradication of corruption, protection of women and child from violence and crimes, and implementation of Juvenile Justice Act 2000 and Domestic violence Act 2005 in the district.
The charter also reflected point on rehabilitation programme for the victims of armed conflict including provision of schemes and relevant programme for their social re-integration.
The charter of demands also urged to establish a district court, fully functional District Planning Committee, Trade and Commerce and Consumer club, and policy to control global warming and environment change.
The charter also included demands on having policy and programme for rehabilitating people who use drugs including policy for promoting rights and health for people afflicted by HIV/AIDS and equal participation of women with the male counterparts in civil and political affairs.
It further reflected fully functional local Government, policy and programme for disabled persons, developing vision document to promote agricultural land, products and human resource and programme provision for promoting lives of underprivileged people in the district.
