Independence Day celebrated widely

The 76th Independence Day was celebrated widely across the State yesterday.
Hoisting of the National flag and commemorating the umpteen contributions of the freedom fighters of the country were the higlights of the celebrations.
MPCC
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee organised the Independence Day celebration at Congress Bhawan, BT road yesterday.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of National flag by MPCC president, K Meghachandra.
Prominent party members including O Ibobi, Gaikhangam, Congress MLAs along with the party workers also attended the celebration.
Speaking at the occasion, O Ibobi paid tribute to the freedom fighters of the country who strove earnestly for an independent India and lauded their selfless efforts.
K Meghachandra while addressing the gathering, appealed to all to take pledge to make concerted efforts for a peaceful and harmonious society on the auspicious occasion of the Independence Day celebration.
Raj Bhavan
Raj Bhavan, Manipur joined the Nation to celebrate 76th Independence Day yesterday.
Secretary to Governor, Bobby Waikhom unfurled the National Flag at the Raj Bhavan and general salute was given by a contingent of CRPF followed by the singing of National Anthem.
Officers and staff of Raj Bhavan and security personnel stationed at the Raj Bhavan attended the celebration.

Rural Development and Panchayati Minister.
Y Khemchand called for collective efforts from all the communities of the State to strive for a progressive society.
He made the above appeal while speaking at the Independence Day celebration held at his residence at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai yesterday.
As a part of the celebration, the Minister hoisted the National flag.
The celebration was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary, MH Khan, former IMC Mayor, L Lokeshor and BJP members.
Also MH Khan initiated the formal inauguration of a water reservoir under Amrit Sarovar mission in connection with the celebration.
RIMS
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) celebrated 76th India's independence day yesterday.
Professor A Santa Singh, Director, RIMS hoisted the National flag in front of Administrative Block of RIMS to commemorate the historical event.
Along with the flag hoisting ceremony, the staff and students also sang patriotic songs, said a press release by the Media Advisor, RIMS.
The celebration was also attended by Professor N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS; Professor Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean (Academic); Professor M Rameswar Singh, Deputy Director (Link), RIMS; Principals of Dental College and College of Nursing, Heads of Departments, senior officials, faculty members, nursing officials, staff, civil security and health workers of CRED, added the release.
High Court
The Independence day celebration was held at the High Court of Manipur and other subordinate Courts yesterday.
Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur, Justice P V Sanjay Kumar hoisted the National Flag and took guard of honour from 29 Battalion BSF who also offered Rastriya Salute.
Independence day celebration was also held at Cheirap Court complex where District and Sessions Judge Imphal West, A Guneshwar Sharma hoisted the National Flag in the presence of other judges and the staff of the Subordinate Courts.
The National Flag was also hoisted at Lamphel Court Building and in front of ND&PS Court, Lamphel, Tamenglong Court complex, Ukhrul and other District Court complexes yesterday.
69 Bn CRPF
Personnel of 69 Bn CRPF, Mantripukhri campus celebrated Independence day yesterday.
A press release by 69 Bn CRPF said that Bajrang Lal, Commandant 69 Bn CRPF hoisted the National flag followed by the National Anthem at the Quarter Guard of Battalion Headquarters.
Addressing the gathering, he motivated the CRPF personnel to safeguard the Nation with true spirit with unity in diversity.
He also read out the names of awardees of Shaurya Chakra, Police Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service awarded by the President of India.
IBSD
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India celebrated 75 years of India's independence yesterday.
A press release by IBSD stated that a programme was organized to commemorate "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" by highlighting various outreach activities of IBSD for bioresources development and boosting the economy of the North Eastern Region of India.
The programme was addressed by Power Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh; During the programme, he released a book highlighting various outreach activities of IBSD for the development of local bioresources, scientific achievements, societal upliftment and bioeconomy from bioresources of NER.
During the celebration, Professor Pulok K Mukherjee, Director, IBSD unfurled the National flag and recalled the contributions of the freedom fighters and paid homage to them.
He mentioned that to celebrate "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", IBSD has organised more than 150 outreach activities including webinars, seminars, capacity building and training programmes, workshops, lab visits for researchers, scientists, school students, traditional healers, farmers and local entrepreneurs of NER.
He further highlighted that IBSD has been working on "Bioeconomy from Bioresources" to boost the economy of this region through sustainable utilization of unique bioresources.
The Prisoners and Correctional Department, Manipur too celebrated Independence day yesterday where SP, Bhardika S presented appreciation certificates to those staff of the Department who delivered their duties diligently.
