Dimapur, August 16, 2010:
The firing incident which took place in Ukhrul district of Manipur on Wednesday, Aug 11 has made the NSCN (I-M) to question the Ibobi government on the ceasefire agreement in Manipur.
The Naga rebel group NSCN (I-M) has alleged that the issue was being fermented by the Okram Ibobi government and propelled by the Assam Rifles to increase tension in the state.
The PRO Naga Army, Col Levi Zimik in a statement said, "the ceasefire agreement did not imply that the Naga Army has ceased to exist.
Because, with or without ceasefire, we have our own duty and we know that our primary duty is to defend our land from aggression and secure our people from all forms of oppression, domestic or foreign".
The NSCN (I-M) described the incident wherein two Naga army men who were on duty were ambushed by the 23 Assam Rifles.
"No where in history has been considered honorable to stab the enemy from the back during armistice.
But in India, this is bravery!" the statement added.
The NSCN (I-M) alleged that the two injured cadres were captured by the AR and "brutally murdered" later calling it a "fierce encounter".
Calling its two comrades who laid down their lives as martyrs, the NSCN (I-M) asserted, to the Assam Rifles, that it was a show of their professionalism'.
